About

Alma Sophia’s journey into the world of fine jewellery began
amidst the striking natural landscapes of Norway, where an early fascination
with form, texture, and hidden beauty first took root. Today, she is an
established presence within the UK jewellery scene, recognised for her
sculptural designs, refined minimalism, and unwavering commitment to
craftsmanship. From her Bloomsbury studio in London, each piece is conceived
and meticulously handcrafted, reflecting a deeply personal and considered
creative process.

From a young age, Alma Sophia was instinctively drawn to
objects of quiet brilliance - like a magpie seeking out overlooked treasures.
Whether discovered along the shoreline, in antique markets, or within the
intimate keepsakes of her grandmother’s dresser, these early encounters
nurtured both a reverence for precious materials and a lasting curiosity for
the artistry behind them.

Her formal training began at Plus Skolen in Fredrikstad, Norway, where she qualified as a goldsmith, earning her journeyman’s certificate. It was here that she developed the fundamental principles that continue to define her work: respect for materials, precision in detail, and the discipline of patience. She later expanded her creative perspective at the University for the Creative Arts in Rochester, where two transformative years of study refined her design language and laid the foundation for her now signature Square Collection.

Following her graduation, Alma Sophia relocated to London, establishing her practice at Cockpit Arts in Bloomsbury. Sculptural form lies at the heart of her aesthetic, with square tubing serving as a distinctive and recurring motif. These geometric elements are thoughtfully combined and repeated, forming harmonious compositions that balance structure with fluidity. Through the handmade process, each piece acquires a subtle organic character - no two forms are ever identical.

Each creation embodies Alma Sophia’s dedication to the art of jewellery-making, offering a timeless expression of craftsmanship and design. Clients are warmly invited to discover the collections online or arrange a private studio visit for a more personal introduction to her work.
